I’m ready to

Dear Aspiring Cookbook Author,

If you’ve been dreaming of writing and publishing your very own cookbook — I’m here to help you!

Stop dreaming, take ACTION, and let’s make it real! The good news is that I’ve created a system for you to do just that! And I’’m very excited to tell you about it!

Did you know that these days, publishers expect authors to market their own books? Specifically, they want to know what YOU are going to do to make your book a success.

Publishers want to know what you’re bringing to the table. And, they want to know if you’ve done your homework. In other words, they want to know that you know who your competition is, who your target market is, and how you’re going to go about selling your cookbook.

When I started writing my cookbook, I dreamed of getting published. And, I may still pursue that in the future, with two other cookbooks I am working on. But for now, let’s talk about you. I want you to think about your cookbook.

In today’s economic environment, I believe self-publishing and self-marketing is the way to go. Let me tell you why.

For one thing, self-publishing is the quickest way for you to get your book to market!

So, I’d like to ask you... What’s keeping you from fulfilling your dream right now?

Have you always wanted to write a cookbook, but didn’t know how to start? Let me confess something to you... Not too long ago, I felt that way myself.

There are so many good reasons to write a cookbook. See if any of these sound familiar:

  1. Is writing a cookbook one of your burning heart’s desires?

  2. Have your family and friends raved about your cooking and asked, no, begged you for your recipes?

  3. Have they mentioned that if you had a cookbook, they would buy it?

  4. Do you have an idea for a cookbook, but don’t know how to get it going?

  5. Perhaps you want to preserve your family heirloom recipes.

  6. Are you are a pro chef, personal chef, or caterer who wants to showcase your great recipes and create some additional income with a cookbook for your customers? I have one friend who has done just that. She uses her cookbook as a calling card with great success!

  7. Do you own a restaurant, Bed & Breakfast, Country Inn, or Tea House?

  8. Have you always thought it would be fun and profitable to have your own cookbook? I would agree, and say, "You’re right!"

  9. Are you part of church group or a non-profit organization looking for a way to raise money?

Cookbooks are one of the best ways to create a product that you can sell, and keep selling for years to come to benefit your organization! People love to get something in return for their donation. And when they use your cookbook and derive nourishment and pleasure from your recipes, they will be reminded to give to your church or organization again!

These are all great reasons to write a cookbook, and that’s exactly why I’ve created my system, "The 7 Secrets of a Successful Self-Published Cookbook."

Are you excited about the idea of having your own cookbook but don’t know the first thing about putting a cookbook together? Think about this: What could be better than having fun selling your very own cookbook, and making money at the same time?

There is always a huge demand for cookbooks and no matter how many diets we try to go on, everyone, I mean everyone, everywhere LOVES TO EAT!

There will never be too many cookbooks. Next time you’re in a bookstore, just take a look at the cooking section!

So I ask you, what could be better than sharing your great recipes with the world?

I’ll tell you what’s better...

MAKING MONEY while sharing your great recipes with the world!

What’s the best way to do that? Self-publishing your very own cookbook! Yes, that’s right, SELF-PUBLISHING!

Why? Because when you self-publish you don’t have to plead with a publisher to accept your work, wait years for the publisher to review your work, edit the life out of it, and then, if you’re lucky enough to get published, they’ll take all the profits! Would that make sense after all your work?

So I’d like to ask you, what are you waiting for?

I’m ready to

To be successful in today’s economic environment, I would encourage you to self-publish your work as soon as possible and then take a strong entrepreneurial stance about everything you do pertaining to your finished cookbook!

But — to give yourself the best chance at success and the possibility of creating a tidy income from your creative work, you’ll need a plan.

I want to help you plan for success.

What you need is a BUSINESS PLAN, written like a BOOK PROPOSAL, that you would submit to a publisher if you were going through the submission process.

I know, I know, you’re probably saying, "Why should I have to write more stuff? My cookbook idea is great, and that should be enough!"

Can I tell you something?

I laugh when I read this now, because I thought exactly the same thing!

And take it from me — I know this because I wrote a BOOK PROPOSAL when I was almost done writing my first cookbook.

And let me tell you, it was the best thing I could’ve done!

Let me tell you why...

The process of writing a BOOK PROPOSAL was — how can I say this...

TRANSFORMATIONAL!

Here’s what happened:

Once I finally decided to complete my cookbook, I began toiling over it for weeks to get it done. I was almost finished when suddenly I realized it was pretty darn good, if I do say so myself! With just a few days of work remaining on the book, I decided to stop, and write a full-blown proposal! Thank goodness I had a proposal template!

I had identified a publisher I knew would be interested in my cookbook so I delayed the completion for two weeks and dove-head first into the BOOK PROPOSAL!

And I’m so glad I did! Not because I got accepted by the publisher, that’s a whole other story. But because...

Writing my BOOK PROPOSAL was like turning the lights on!

WOW! After writing the proposal, I actually knew how to market my cookbook myself! What a gift I had given myself. I had proven to myself, in writing, that I really had it in me. I knew what to do! I had identified who would be interested in my cookbook!

I had a PLAN! a WORKABLE PLAN for my cookbook.

What’s even more important, I am still using my plan now, as I continue to expand my market, increase my book sales, and increase my speaking engagements.

Personal note from Laura:

I’ll confess, I love "niches." I couldn't resist the idea of helping other aspiring cookbook authors make their dream of having their own cookbook come true.

I had so much fun, and derived so many benefits from writing my own cookbook that I decided to become "The Cookbook Coach" and create "The 7 Secrets of a Successful Self-Published Cookbook" system.

Looking back, here’s where things started to change:

I’ve always been very creative, but I lacked marketing savvy. Gradually, I became more business-minded. Thank goodness for that!

In 2007, I finally decided that my book had been sitting around for too long and I made a declaration to complete it that year. YES!

I decided to TAKE ACTION!!

I also realized that perhaps I just wasn’t really ready until I finally decided to finish. But, I just couldn’t continue to beat myself up about it! What I really needed to do was take some serious action towards the fulfillment of my heart’s desire.

Besides taking action, what I really needed was a SYSTEM.

Based on my career experience of implementing business systems for quality and continuous improvement in the corporate world, I began thinking that there should be system for creating and marketing a self-published cookbook.

After all, writing a cookbook was just like a "project." And projects are my expertise.

Projects require planning and direction.

And whether you’re writing your cookbook by yourself, or as a collaborative group, you’ll need a plan and a schedule to ensure success.

A book has a beginning, an end, interim goals, and all sorts of things that must be completed to ensure the success of the finished product.

Going a step further, what happens after the cookbook is completed also requires careful planning — if you’re serious about being successful. Since you’ve read this far, I’m going to assume you’re serious! So let’s keep moving!

The system I envisioned would make it easy for others to create their cookbook, and more importantly, MARKET their cookbook prior to, and upon completion.

Are your wheels turning yet?

Well, Congratulations! Now that you’ve decided to write a cookbook, are you ready to take aim? I hope so, because I’m ready to help you — as your personal COOKBOOK COACH.

Now you can use the same step-by-step plan I used to create and launch my cookbook when you order my system:

"The 7 Secrets of a Successful
Self-Published Cookbook"

I'm ready to

Think of it this way — using my system will work as the COMPASS you’ll use to chart your course. And, I’ll be your trusty guide through the entire process, making sure you complete your goal without getting side-tracked!

Did you know that resistance is one of the things that can prevent us from having what we want? You may actually resist your own dreams by losing interest midway through a project. I know this, I have done this myself!

But no more! And as your COOKBOOK COACH I will show you ways to "resist" and "deflect" your own resistance!

Whether your cookbook is just a twinkling idea in your mind’s eye, half-done, set aside, or completed — my system can help you. Your cookbook will have a plan and a PURPOSE!

Use that compass, and decide to chart your course towards your personal SUCCESS!

As your COOKBOOK COACH:

I want you to know right now, that GIVING UP is not acceptable. You owe it to yourself to create your plan and move on to writing, marketing, and selling your cookbook!

I will work with you every step of the way. If you decide to let me work with you, I won’t let you give up and I am certain the techniques I’ll share with you will work for you, just like they did for me.

Just ask my dear friend, Chef Linda, who I’ve mentored and coached for several years. Her first cookbook, The Art of Cuisine has been a big success, and she uses her book as a marketing tool for her personal chef business.

I was flattered and absolutely floored when I opened her book and read her inspiring acknowledgement to me. I was humbled when I saw that I was the first person she mentioned in her acknowledgements.

That’s when I realized I wanted to help other cookbook authors!

Just look at what Chef Linda has to say:

Chef Linda

"I would like to give special thanks to my coworker and mentor, Laura Denktash. Without her loving encouragement and guidance, I do not think I would be where I am today."

~ Chef Linda
Visit Chef Linda’s website at: www.theartofcuisine.com

Chef Linda and I had a lot of fun working on our first cookbooks together. We kept each other going when we got tired. Now, we laugh about those days of staying up until all hours of the night, working feverishly. But at the same time we felt energized and excited! That’s how you feel when you’re creating something that is yours! I can tell you now that all the hard work was definitely worth it!

Here is an excerpt from the Introduction of Chef Linda’s cookbook, The Art of Cuisine:

"In my book, I have some good old-fashioned Southern recipes that have been handed down from my grandmother and they are over 100 years old!

"I have some modern healthy recipes for a healthy lifestyle and recipes that you make ahead for the busy individual."

Chef Linda has now completed her second cookbook, as an e-book, and I’m sure she won’t stop there! She’s experienced the satisfaction that comes with completing a cookbook, and then turning that cookbook into a tool that continues to help her grow her business. Now, I’m ready to give you the same coaching support I gave Chef Linda!

Here is another wonderful testimonial, from Rose Mis, Pro Chef of New York City.

Rose Mis

"WOW...pretty much says it all about Laura Denktash. I’m a Pro Chef in NYC, and when she told me about her Cookbook Coach Program, I had to confess my own desire to write my own cookbook. I knew instantaneously that she was the person that could absolutely help me get this accomplished. I’m excited beyond belief that I’ve found someone of Laura’s caliber to help me with my project. Laura has been through all the trials and tribulations associated with getting a cookbook written and published. I can think of no better way to learn how to do this than from someone who’s already done what I want to do!

"And, on a more personal note, my experience of Laura is that she’s very well organized, presents information in a way that’s easily understood by everyone, and knows her subject matter intimately. I feel confident that I’ll be well on my way to having a best seller in short order! Laura, I can’t thank you enough for all that you’ve done. You’re an amazing cook, a gifted writer, a brilliant teacher — you are The Rose Diva!!"

~ Rose Mis, Pro Chef/Consultant, Toque of the Town Gourmet

And one from Prakash Adhikari of Nepal, author of soon to be published: Recipes from the Top of the World: 50 Easy & Nutritious Nepali Dishes

Prakash Adhikari

"Ever since I was a small child I enjoyed spending time in the kitchen with my mother, watching her prepare our food. I love to cook. For a long time it has been my dream to be a writer. When I met Laura, she helped me realize I can combine two of the things I really love. She encouraged me to create my first e-book cookbook of Nepali recipes. Because I want to market my cookbook to America, she is helping me convert measurements and to edit my work. Since I live in Nepal, she advised me the most cost effective way to market my book is in e-book style. I believe she gives me very good advice. She is very generous in her time with me. She shows me how to do it, and it’s great to work with her. She makes it easy. With Laura helping me to create my first cookbook in e-book style, I hope to be able to help the people of my country. It is my dream to create a project to help raise the literacy rate in Nepal. My cookbook will be completed soon and I am very excited to do this work! I am excited for the future!"

~ Prakash Adhikari of Katmandu, Chef from "Top of the World"

And my newest student, Joacim Kempe from Sweden, who is currently working on publishing a collection of Swedish recipes.

Joacim Kempe

"I’m Joacim from Sweden and I’m 17 years old. Since I was very little I’ve loved to make cookies in the kitchen and also make food. As a little boy I always helped my grandmother with cooking and baking. When my grandmother died I was very sad. She meant a lot to me and had always been there for me, it was hard. So this cook book I’m writing now is going to be like a tribute for her. I’m collecting recipes from friends, my grandmother’s old recipes, and I’m also creating my own.

Laura is a huge support for me in all of this. She gives me inspiration to move forward and really do this, and I really appreciate her help and her very good tips. I met Laura first when I found her Facebook profile where I wrote to her because I knew she was an author and had written a cook book. Then one week later I received a signed copy of her book ""The Rose Cookbook" which is a very interesting and unique cook book and it’s so beautiful. Since that day, Laura and I have been good friends. I always become happy after talking to her and my head is full of new ideas and inspirations from her. I’m a huge fan of Lisa Marie Presley and I'’m blogging about her now and that was Laura’s idea too.

Now when I’m writing my Swedish cook book Quick and Easy Recipes for Celebration and Weekdays she’s very important for me, and she’s really kind to me. She teaches me new things and her help is worth gold for me. Without her 7 Secrets of a Successful Self-Published Cookbook system, and her help, this book I’m writing wouldn't be possible!

~ Joacim Kempe, Risbro, Sweden

Now, it’s your turn! Don’t put off your dream of writing a cookbook any longer!

I’m ready to

As your Cookbook Coach, here are some of the pointers I will give you in my system —

"The 7 Secrets of a Successful
Self-Published Cookbook"

  • Help you choose the "style" of cookbook to create

  • Help you copyright your work

  • Help you get an ISBN number

  • Give you secrets to remaining focused and inspired throughout your project

  • Give you the hottest marketing techniques

  • Help you identify your target market

  • Give you tips on networking your target market and beyond

  • Show you how to get free media coverage

  • Show you how to write an "Action Plan"

  • Help you create a schedule and stick with it

  • Teach you how to pace yourself to avoid burnout

But you’re saying, "I want to be published!" I’m not trying to burst any bubbles here but...

Don’t think for one minute that getting published is the answer to all your prayers. It could be, but the reality is that all too often, it doesn’t happen.

And many times, rejection can be a blessing, because you’ll maintain the integrity of your work, and keep all the profits!

I realized that when I didn’t hear back from the publisher that I had submitted my work to.

What’s even worse, many authors give up on their projects because of countless rejections from publishers. That’s the real tragedy.

I hate to think about all the manuscripts that have been thrown into the fire because the author lost hope.

In today’s fast-moving market, you have to be smart. I’ll give you all the tools you’ll need to get your cookbook off to a great start!

Remember, writing your cookbook is one thing, but MARKETING your cookbook is where the real magic happens!

You can have the best cookbook in the world, but if you don’t get the word out, no one will respond by buying.

But these are just some of the things I can help you with when you hire me as your COOKBOOK COACH and order my system:

"The 7 Secrets of a Successful
Self-Published Cookbook"

I’m ready to

Don’t make the same mistake I made...

I remember the day my self-published books finally arrived at my home. I was so happy! They arrived on my birthday, right after Thanksgiving. Wow! Just in time for Christmas!

I was convinced I would sell TONS of cookbooks for Christmas gifts.

So what happened next? Not much. Well, for one thing, even though I had written a proposal with a full-blown business plan, I didn’t take action.

But here’s why...

Make no mistake, writing a book is a strenuous exercise. The process can take it out of you, both mentally, and physically. To be honest, I was burned out after I completed the book and the book proposal. I was trying to meet a deadline for the printer and I worked like a dog for weeks to get it finished.

If you work at a regular job and run a home like I did at the time, you’ll know what I mean about being burned out!

Once I had decided I was going to get my cookbook completed, I created a plan. Here’s what I did:

I put myself on a strict schedule. Remember... this was temporary! Weeknights, I would come home from work and rest one hour, have a bite to eat, and then start working on the book until about midnight.

On Friday nights I would work till about 3:00 AM.

I slept in on Saturday morning and then start working on the book at about 1:00 PM. Usually I worked for about 12-15 hours. On Sunday morning I would wake up around the same time and go until about 8:00 PM.

I did that for several weeks, until I was done. Why? I was motivated to finish! I decided that I would do whatever it took to get it done!

And — I have a very understanding family! They realized how important my cookbook was to me. Everyone pitched in. Thank goodness!

Think of it this way — I endured some temporary discomfort to achieve a goal. And you can do the same, if you really want it.

But, you won’t have to go to such extreme measures because you’ll have my system to guide you. Remember, I had put my project off several times, and when I finally decided to get it done, I was in a big hurry!!

You can now benefit from all the mistakes I made along the way! I’ve taken all the guesswork out of this process for you and given you the tools to succeed!

And, don’t forget, when you purchase my system, you’ll benefit directly from my knowledge and expertise. My system will get you going in record time!

Completing my cookbook was hard work, but in the end I felt rewarded because my long awaited book and my proposal were finally complete. I was so excited!

You have to understand, my cookbook has a special niche. I wrote:

You’re probably saying, "A book about cooking with roses? She must be nuts!" Well, I think I told you I had a special niche.

Did you know that the rose is the national flower of the United States?"

And, that the American Rose Society has thousands of members who belong to chapters throughout the United States?

The American Rose Society members, and rose lovers everywhere are part of my target market!

Today, the American Rose Society continues to be a source for speaking engagements!

Are you beginning to understand? I know my TARGET MARKET. Writing the proposal guided me to identify the American Rose Society as part of my TARGET MARKET!

But that’s only one of my target markets. And you may have more than one target market for your cookbook that will bring you sales! I’ll help you discover them!

As your coach, I will help you realize all the possibilities for your cookbook.

Like me, you may have a zany idea for a cookbook. Don’t let anyone tell you your idea is silly! I know some people thought my idea was really silly!

As a matter of fact, some people laughed right in my face! And I know plenty of people said my idea was stupid and laughed at me behind my back. But I didn’t let that stop me, not for one minute! And neither should you!

If you have any doubts about my book, The Rose Cookbook — A Treasury of Rose Recipes from Around the World, just take a look at my website: http://www.therosediva.com/ to see how I’m marketing my cookbook now, and witness the exciting world that has opened up for me since I completed my cookbook!

I say, "Go for it," but don’t make the mistake so many authors make...

Don’t stop taking action as soon as you get your cookbook completed. Remember, the fortune is in the follow through!

I’m ready to

I want to help you plan your way to success.

You have to understand that the completion of your cookbook is just the beginning.

The real magic begins when you START MARKETING YOUR COOKBOOK. That’s why writing the proposal is so important.

When you write a full-fledged proposal, as if you were submitting it to a publisher, you are required to create a MARKETING PLAN within the proposal.

Publishers don’t do much for you unless you are among the top percentile of extremely successful authors. Or as T. Harv Eker, who wrote the best seller, Secrets of the Millionaire Mind says, "Publishers are just printers."

You have to bring your ideas to the table and tell them what you’re going to do to get that cookbook of yours moving in the marketplace and jumping into everyone’s arms.

You may say, "Why should I bother writing a book proposal if I don’t intend to submit my book to a publisher?"

Here’s why:

Because you’re worth it, your cookbook is worth it and, because you owe it to yourself!

Remember the compass we talked about earlier?

Let me tell you this, when I wrote my proposal, it was the most powerful thing I could’ve done. Writing the proposal made me really realize the value of my book. It was like night and day for me. A light went off in my head! I felt absolutely empowered!

And, I know that writing a proposal can do the same for you! Remember, if you’re self-publishing, the proposal is for you. It’s your written business plan, and it’s specifically crafted so you know what to do. And you, my dear friend, are so worth it!

So, to make it super easy for you, I’ve taken the components of a book proposal and included them in my "7 Step" system. As you go through the exercises in the course work materials, you’ll be answering all the questions a book proposal would require.

I want you to be empowered and prepared:

Here’s another thing to keep in mind — once you start selling your cookbook, you’ll be ready to send it to a publisher anytime you want. If you have your proposal ready you’ll be prepared when and if the opportunity presents itself!

Many self-published authors get book deals after they’ve been selling their cookbooks successfully. If your cookbook is selling, a proposal will be necessary to submit to a publisher. So, all I can say is — why not be ready? You’ll come across as knowledgeable, and with some quick edits, and a query letter, you’ll be good to go!

Here are some more of the important and necessary things I can do for you as your Cookbook Coach:

  • Review your cookbook idea

  • Help you create a schedule, and stick to it!

  • Help you decide which media is best for your project — printed or e-book

  • Help you get your cookbook into production with a reputable printer, or

  • Help you get an artistic cover created for your e-book

  • Help you write a winning cookbook proposal

  • Help you create a complete marketing plan

  • Help you market yourself as an expert

  • Help you write a press release

  • Help you get articles about your cookbook strategically placed on the internet

  • Help you decide if you need a website for your cookbook or find places on the web to market your cookbook

  • Help you get small articles about your cookbook into magazines or local newspapers

  • Help you write a query letter, if you decide to submit to a publisher

  • Help to keep you MOTIVIATED!!

I’m ready to

I will help you create an "ACTION PLAN" so you can go right into action promoting your cookbook, even before it is completed!

I will help you IDENTIFY and CAPITALIZE on the uniqueness of your cookbook to create a strong marketing plan within your proposal.

I want to be your personal COOKBOOK COACH throughout the entire process to ensure your success. If you’re ready to step up to the plate and follow my steps, I’ll check in on your progress and get you across the finish line!

Why would I want to do all of that?

I’m doing this because I wish there would have been someone there for me when I was writing my first cookbook. I had to learn the hard way! But now, I’ve documented the whole process and I’m offering it to you in an easy to use system!

Because, as a coach, I love helping other people succeed! And, I love to help empower others to live their dreams and improve the quality of their lives!

Because, your success gives me a great sense of satisfaction.

So — if writing a cookbook is one of your dreams, and you have a burning desire in your heart to get it done, you have come to the right place! That’s why you need my system:

"The 7 Secrets of a Successful
Self-Published Cookbook"

I’m ready to

I only wish I had someone to coach me when I was writing my first cookbook!

As I mentioned earlier, I’ve been a consultant and technical writer to large corporations for the past 16 years. In my work, I’ve coached business owners to improve their processes and achieve performance excellence in their companies.

When I became a cookbook author, I realized I could adapt and utilize the skills I’d sharpened in the corporate world. I’d created tried-and-true methods assisting large companies to become more efficient and improve their success.

I thought to myself — why not apply these improvement methods to individuals?

When I wrote my first cookbook I had to teach myself, but believe me, I know it would’ve been a lot easier and, I would’ve saved a lot of time if I would’ve had a system and a coach to guide me along!

A system and a coach — what a great idea!

I love entrepreneurs, and I love being an entrepreneur. I love coaching. As your COOKBOOK COACH, I want to help you tap into your unique talents and make something of it. Something, that when completed, has the potential to benefit you and your family or your organization for years to come!

Here’s my simple wish for you:

I want you to be successful!

I want you to improve your life by tapping into your creative gifts!

Let’s face it. Recent economic events have spelled disaster for many of us. You can’t rely on your 401K or the equity in your home right now. Fortunes have been lost and it’s going to take several years for our economy to work itself out of the present cycle.

What’s really important is YOUR ECONOMY! That’s why you need to TAKE ACTION!

I’m ready to

There is one thing you can always rely on — YOUR TALENT. And your talent is something that no one, that’s right, no one, can take away from you.

As your coach, I’d like to help you realize your talent, and focus on YOUR SUCCESS.

And, I’d encourage you to get busy! NOW!

This is the right time to tap into your creative gifts and use your talent!

If writing a cookbook is one of the dreams on your list of things you’d like to accomplish, LET’S GO FOR IT!

As your COOKBOOK COACH, I want to help you do just that. I want to help you maximize your efforts, and create real benefits for yourself, without wasting time.

I’ve trained with some of the greatest coaches in the world including Anthony Robbins, Jack Canfield, T. Harv Eker, Alexandria Brown, Brian Tracy, Loral Langemeier, David Neagle and Carl Logrecco. I’ve absorbed their teachings and I’ve implemented what they’ve taught me into what I’m offering you.

One message that all these coaches agree on is this — YOU HAVE TO TAKE ACTION!!!

ACTION is the common thread that leads to success! And that’s why I’m so excited to share what I’ve learned from both my personal experience and from these world famous experts! I want to help you take action now!

When I developed "The 7 Secrets of a Successful Self-Published Cookbook,"
I had you in mind.

I used myself as the model, remembering everything I would’ve needed when I was writing my first cookbook.

If you order my system and hire me as your COOKBOOK COACH, I’m ready to offer you a system that will take your cookbook to a new level, a level where you can position yourself to create and enjoy the all important PASSIVE INCOME!

Your completed cookbook can be a source of cash flow for years to come. And, it can lead to other cash flow activities such as teaching classes and speaking engagements!

Having a published cookbook as part of your "nest egg" can also open other doors for you. Having a book can establish you as an expert in your field. As your COOKBOOK COACH, I would like to help you understand all the opportunities that are available to self-published authors in today’’s marketplace.

You just need to have a system, and be motivated to take action! Are you ready? I am!
